St. Lawrence feast days celebrated in Petrinja and Požega

Religious communities in Croatia celebrated the feast day of St. Lawrence, the patron saint of several regions and dioceses.

In Petrinja, the St. Lawrence Parish held a celebration featuring a central Mass led by Fra Dragan Grizelj. The event included a formal procession through the streets of Petrinja, attended by local faithful, veterans, police, the Croatian Army, and various civil institutions. During the homily, Fra Dragan emphasized the importance of service to others, the sanctity of the family, and the call to care for the poor and vulnerable.

In Požega, the Požega Diocese and its Caritas celebrated the feast of St. Lawrence with an Eucharistic celebration led by Auxiliary Bishop Marko Kovač and Bishop Ivo Martinović. The ceremony focused on the saint's legacy of protecting the Church's treasures by giving them to the poor, widows, and orphans. Bishop Martinović reflected on the true meaning of wealth, stating that a valley's value lies not in material goods but in how it treats the lonely and the marginalized.
