St. Lawrence Parish in Olbierzowice celebrates 700th anniversary

The St. Lawrence Parish in Olbierzowice, located in the Klimontów municipality, celebrated its 700th anniversary with a series of religious and community events. The jubilee included a family picnic, artistic performances, and a solemn Mass led by Bishop Krzysztof Nitkiewicz of the Sandomierz Diocese.

During the liturgy, Bishop Nitkiewicz emphasized that the parish's history is built on faith and urged the community to maintain a living connection with God to ensure its future. The parish, which serves approximately 3,800 people across 12 villages, is noted for its historical depth; some accounts suggest its origins may date back to the 12th century.

Local officials and clergy noted the strong community integration within the parish. Historical context provided during the celebrations highlighted that the church was once controlled by proponents of the Reformation, likely Arians or Calvinists, which led to the loss of various historical documents.
