St Leonards-on-Sea house offered at £1 auction following landslide

A four-bedroom house in St Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex, is being auctioned with a starting price of just £1. Although the property has an estimated value of £525,000, a significant landslide in February 2024 caused part of the garden to collapse down a 15-meter slope.

The 130m² property, located on Foxcote, remains under a habitation ban, making it currently uninhabitable. While the garden has since stabilized and the house structure shows no signs of damage, the legal restrictions prevent anyone from living in the residence.

BTG Eddisons Property Auctions is scheduled to hold the auction on October 29. Auctioneer Richard Worrall noted that while the landslide disrupted the previous owners' plans, a successful repair of the land could allow a new owner to acquire a high-value asset for a fraction of its market worth.
