St. Louis Cardinals call up Quinn Mathews for MLB debut versus Toronto Blue Jays

The St. Louis Cardinals have promoted left‑handed pitching prospect Quinn Mathews to the major‑league roster. The 25‑year‑old, the club’s No. 7 prospect for 2026, is slated to make his MLB debut this weekend against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Mathews entered the season with a 3.13 ERA and 111 strikeouts in 92 Triple‑A innings for the Memphis Redbirds, including a 1.04 ERA in his four starts this month. Manager Oliver Marmol said the call‑up gives the rotation extra rest and could bolster St. Louis’ push for a wild‑card spot, as the team trails by three games.
