St. Louis Cardinals defeat Baltimore Orioles to end losing streak
The St. Louis Cardinals snapped a five-game losing streak with a 7-5 victory over the Baltimore Orioles. Blaze Jordan and Ramón Urías provided early offensive momentum with home runs, helping St. Louis build an early lead. Despite a late three-run home run by Coby Mayo that narrowed the gap, Riley O’Brien secured his 34th save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning.
The victory comes amid significant injury concerns for the Cardinals. Third baseman Blaze Jordan was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left ankle sprain after sustaining the injury while making a play in the eighth inning. Jordan joins several other teammates on the injured list, including Peter Strzelecki.
Following the series, the Orioles move on to face the Athletics in Sacramento as they continue their pursuit of a wild-card spot. The Orioles recently secured a 4-3 extra-inning win against the Athletics, driven by RBI singles from Coby Mayo and Christian Encarnacion-Strand in the 10th inning.
