St. Louis Cardinals defeat Cincinnati Reds 10-3 as Lars Nootbaar returns
Outfielder Lars Nootbaar made his season debut after undergoing heel surgery in October, recording two hits and an RBI. His comeback helped the St. Louis Cardinals rally to a 10-3 victory over the Cincinnati Reds.
Alec Burleson led the offense with a home run and four runs scored. Jordan Walker added three hits and an RBI, while Hunter Dobbins closed the game in relief. The win came after the Cardinals promoted reliever Matt Svanson and optioned utility man Thomas Saggese to Triple-A, while Ryan Fernandez was placed on the 15‑day injured list.
The Cardinals now lead the three‑game series against the Reds, with pitcher Matthew Liberatore slated to start the next game.
