St. Louis Cardinals promote Rob Cerfolio to general manager

The St. Louis Cardinals have appointed 34-year-old Rob Cerfolio as their new general manager. Cerfolio, who has been serving as the team's assistant general manager since 2024, succeeds Randy Flores, who recently departed to become the general manager for the Houston Astros.

Cerfolio will continue to work under Chaim Bloom, the president of baseball operations. Bloom praised Cerfolio for his leadership in player development and his efforts to integrate the organization's performance group.

Prior to joining the Cardinals, Cerfolio spent nearly a decade with the Cleveland Guardians, where he most recently served as the director of player development. A former pitcher at Yale University, Cerfolio was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2013 but did not sign a professional contract.
