St. Louis Cardinals-White Sox game delayed by rain

The series opener between the Chicago White Sox and the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium has been delayed due to inclement weather. Grounds crews deployed tarps shortly after 6 p.m. CT as rain moved into the area.

While the start time for the matchup between Anthony Kay and Matthew Liberatore remains unconfirmed, the weather did not prevent a pregame ceremony honoring the 20th anniversary of the 2006 World Series-winning Cardinals team. Honorees included Albert Pujols, Yadier Molina, and former manager Tony La Russa.

In roster news, White Sox first baseman Munetaka Murakami was left out of the starting lineup as manager Will Venable manages player rest toward the end of the season.
