St. Louis Public Schools cancels Miller-Sumner football season
St. Louis Public Schools has canceled the 2026 football season for the Clyde C. Miller Career Academy and Sumner High School cooperative team following allegations of serious misconduct. The district reported receiving accounts of “seriously inappropriate behavioral and physical conduct” involving students associated with the program.
The decision follows notifications to state child welfare authorities and has prompted an investigation by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. While specific details regarding the allegations have not been publicly disclosed, officials emphasized that student safety must take precedence over athletic competition.
In addition to the police investigation, the school district has committed to an independent review of the reported conduct and the processes by which the concerns were reported to administrators. Authorities are urging students with information to come forward, noting that the district is working to provide resources to affected families and protect students from potential harassment or retaliation.
