St. Mary's County reviews 2050 Comprehensive Plan

The St. Mary's County Commissioners are reviewing a proposed 2050 Comprehensive Plan following a 5-2 recommendation for adoption by the Planning Commission. The certification of the plan has triggered a 90-day deadline under Maryland land-use law; if the commissioners do not act within this period, the Planning Commission's recommendation will be considered approved.

Commissioners have tentatively scheduled work sessions for mid-September, with a potential public hearing as early as October 6. The board maintains the authority to adopt, modify, return, or reject the plan in its entirety or in parts, though a public hearing is required for any adoption or modification.
