St. Paul man charged in burglaries and assault of officer
A 29-year-old St. Paul man, Jason Lionel Wayne Gatrell, has been arrested and charged following two alleged commercial burglaries. According to the St. Paul Police Department, Gatrell is accused of breaking into The Gnome Craft Pub on August 16, where approximately $1,300 in cash was stolen and significant property damage occurred.
The following morning, August 17, police responded to an alarm at The Lexington. Officers reported seeing Gatrell and another individual attempting to pry open a door. During the subsequent pursuit and arrest, Gatrell allegedly sprayed an officer in the face with pepper spray and attempted to disarm the officer of a taser. He also reportedly kicked an officer in the face during a scuffle.
Gatrell faces multiple charges, including second-degree burglary, fourth-degree assault of a peace officer, first-degree damage to property, and using tear gas to immobilize another person.
