St. Peter's Basilica hosts sacred music meditation event

St. Peter's Basilica is hosting an installment of the ‘Elevazione Spirituale’ musical meditation series at the Cathedral Altar. The event is part of the preparations for the 400th anniversary of the basilica's dedication.

The program spans several musical eras, ranging from Renaissance polyphony to 19th-century compositions. Featured works include pieces by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, such as ‘Sicut cervus’, ‘Kyriez’, and ‘Missa Brevis’. Other scheduled performances include Edward Elgar’s ‘Ave verum’, Anton Bruckner’s ‘Locus iste’, Renzio’s ‘Jubilate Deo’, and works by Tomás Luis de Victoria.
