St. Petersburg donates advanced ambulance to Matanzas

The province of Matanzas, Cuba, has received a state-of-the-art ambulance donated by the governor and the people of St. Petersburg, Russia. The handover was facilitated by the Russian Embassy in Cuba as part of an ongoing sister-city relationship.

The vehicle is equipped with advanced medical technology, including ventilation and cardiac monitoring systems. It is intended to support the Maternal and Child Health Program, specifically aiding the transport of neonates, children, and critically ill pregnant women between provincial hospitals.

This donation follows agreements made during St. Petersburg Governor Aleksandr Beglov’s visit to Cuba in November 2025. The initiative is part of a broader series of contributions from St. Petersburg to the Matanzas healthcare system, which includes previous donations of specialized medicines and medical equipment for gastroenterology and neonatal care.
