In the annual VCÖ station test, passengers have voted the St. Pölten main station as the best large station in Austria. The Vienna Westbahnhof and Graz main station followed in second and third place, respectively. In the category for the most beautiful large station, Vienna main station was selected by passengers.

For larger stations located outside of provincial capitals, Lienz took first place, ahead of Hohenems and St. Paul im Lavanttal. Feldkirch was voted the most beautiful station in this category. Among smaller stations, Mariazell ranked first, followed by Mallnitz-Obervellach and Hofstetten-Grünau.

The survey involved approximately 13,300 passengers who evaluated stations based on 16 different criteria, both online and on trains. St. Pölten received high marks for accessibility via walking, cycling, and public transport, as well as for barrier-free access, ticket machines, and passenger information.
