St. Pölten court acquits German man of resisting police

A 21-year-old German man was acquitted in St. Pölten after facing charges of attempted resistance against state authority and causing serious bodily harm to police officers. The incident occurred in March of last year in Markersdorf, near Neulengbach, following a dispute over vehicle damage on a parking lot.

During the legal proceedings, the defendant stated he had limited memory of the event due to high alcohol consumption and a reaction to medication for a depressive illness. While police officers reported being injured during the attempt to detain the aggressive individual, the court found that neither significant resistance nor significant violence could be proven. The judge issued an acquittal, noting the defendant made a good impression in court.
