St. Roch Church in Draškovac begins right tower restoration

Restoration work has commenced on the right tower of the St. Roch Church in Draškovac. Following the previous renovation of the lower facade in 2025, this phase focuses on the tower and stone-restoration work, valued at 100,000 euros.

The project is fully funded by the Croatian Ministry of Culture and Media through a grant obtained by the Varaždin Diocese. Due to the presence of the strictly protected grey long-eared bat (Plecotus austriacus) living in the towers, construction is restricted to the period between August 1 and November 1. The works are expected to be completed by November 2026.

Parish priest Krunoslav Kefelja noted that this represents the largest amount of funding approved for the renovation of sacral objects in the Međimurje region.
