St. Stephen Martyr Feast Celebrated in Čerin Parish, Bosnia

On Monday, 3 August, the parish of St. Stephen Martyr in Čerin, municipality of Čitluk, Bosnia and Herzegovina, held a three‑day celebration of its patron saint’s feast. The liturgy was organized by priests Fra Augustin Čordaš, Fra Valentin Vukoja and Fra Ivan Landeka Jr., while the central Mass on the feast day was celebrated by Monsignor Mladen Vukšić, the bishop of Kotor.

Before the Mass, a tribute was paid to all war victims from the Čerin community, with wreaths and candles lit at a memorial. Local officials—including Tomislav Martinović, president of the House of Peoples of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, minister Ivo Bevanda, Čitluk mayor Marin Radišić and others—participated. A procession carried the statue of St. Stephen from the parish church to an outdoor altar, after which the Mass and sermon emphasized the saint’s martyrdom, steadfast faith and warned against modern spiritual charlatans. The event attracted a large number of parishioners and guests who joined in prayer and celebration.
