St. Thomas plans Havensight waterfront redevelopment

The West Indian Company Limited (WICO) has entered a new phase of a major redevelopment project aimed at transforming the Havensight area in St. Thomas into a comprehensive waterfront destination. The initiative involves more than 13 acres of waterfront and hillside property surrounding the existing cruise berths.

Rather than serving solely as a transit point for cruise passengers, the proposed redevelopment seeks to create an integrated experience for cruise visitors, resort guests, yacht owners, and the local community. Planned enhancements may include new hospitality offerings, restaurants, retail spaces, a marina, yacht facilities, entertainment venues, and improved public infrastructure designed to accommodate increasingly large cruise ships.

Joseph Boschulte, president and CEO of WICO, noted that the project aims to build on St. Thomas’s established position in the cruise industry while preparing for future growth. The move reflects a broader trend in the Caribbean cruise sector to capture more economic activity by providing localized experiences directly at port destinations.
