St. Vincent and the Grenadines Consulate plans digital passport pilot

The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Consulate in New York is planning to modernize its passport services through a digital pilot program. Consul General Roland Matthews stated that the initiative aims to allow nationals in the diaspora to complete much of the application process electronically from home, reducing the need for repeated in-person visits to the consulate.

While the digital system will streamline how applications are submitted and paperwork is handled, Matthews emphasized that the legal requirements for obtaining a passport will remain unchanged. The move is intended to make the process less stressful for Vincentians living in the United States by utilizing available technology to simplify service delivery.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, St. Clair Leacock, has expressed support for the plan. Leacock noted that the consulate's efforts align with the broader digital transformation projects currently being implemented within the country.
