St. Vincent de Paul Feast Day celebrated by religious and charitable groups
Religious communities and charitable organizations held celebrations to mark the Feast Day of St. Vincent de Paul.
In Bridgeport, Connecticut, Bishop Frank J. Caggiano led a Mass at St. Vincent’s Medical Center of Hartford HealthCare. During his homily, the Bishop emphasized the importance of “accompaniment,” noting that the hospital’s founding religious order, the Daughters of Charity, embodies the mission of walking alongside those in need. He reflected on the life of St. Vincent de Paul, highlighting his personal experiences with suffering.
In Ballymena, Northern Ireland, members of the Society of St Vincent de Paul (SVP) gathered at All Saints’ Church to honor the organization’s mission and volunteers. The Mass, officiated by Fr Perry Gildea CM, recognized the practical and emotional support provided by members to families facing hardship. The event was attended by Anne Irwin, the newly elected SVP Regional President for the North Region, who commended the volunteers for their dedication to home visitation and befriending those in difficult circumstances.
