St. Vincent PM to address UN General Assembly and court investors

Prime Minister Godwin Friday of St. Vincent and the Grenadines will lead a delegation to the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. This marks his inaugural address to the General Debate. A central focus of the visit is climate change, as the nation seeks to join the Climate Vulnerable Forum and participate in high-level meetings regarding sea-level rise and climate action.

During a diaspora outreach and investment conference in New York City, Prime Minister Friday also addressed overseas Vincentians, urging them to transition from providing remittances to becoming “preferred investors” in the nation’s economy. He outlined a strategic focus on four pillars: agriculture, tourism, the blue economy, and a “new economy” involving digital technology and creative arts. The government aims to leverage the diaspora's capital and skills to foster sustainable commercial enterprises and regional market access.
