St Vincent police announce new technology and public recording rights

The Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) has announced a new strategic direction aimed at modernizing law enforcement and improving public relations. During a general meeting at the Old Montrose Police Centre, Acting Commissioner of Police Trevor Bailey addressed longstanding complaints regarding citizens being prevented from filming police operations. Bailey explicitly stated that members of the public have the right to record police activity in public spaces and emphasized that such recording is not a criminal offense.

In addition to civil rights clarifications, the RSVGPF plans to integrate advanced technology into its operations. This includes the deployment of drones for aerial surveillance and the acquisition of specialized equipment to combat cybercrime and transnational organized crime. The strategy also involves enhancing mobile patrols and fostering better intelligence sharing between specialized units, the Coast Guard, and the Auxiliary Police Force to improve emergency response and crime reduction efforts.
