Michael Murphy and Staša Košarac clash over Bosnia political narratives
Former US Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Michael Murphy, has criticized an article in the Washington Examiner that advocates for the dissolution of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the recognition of Republika Srpska. Murphy described the text, written by Jose Lev Alvarez, as containing "ethnonationalist myths, disinformation, and legal fantasies."
In response, Staša Košarac, the Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers in Bosnia and Herzegovina, accused Murphy of acting as a "political administrator" for the country even after his mandate expired. Košarac claimed Murphy has spent years attempting to shape political relations in accordance with the Biden administration's interests and criticized him for interfering in domestic affairs.
Murphy suggested that members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina could potentially respond to such narratives by proposing the recognition of Kosovo or by offering the United States the opportunity to establish a military base in locations such as Tuzla or Brčko.
