Staad: Hit-and-run electric motorcycle collision injures cyclist

A 60-year-old cyclist was seriously injured following a head-on collision with an electric motorcycle on a sidewalk in Staad, Switzerland. The accident occurred on Thalerstrasse shortly after 6:00 PM on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.

The cyclist was traveling from Thal toward Staad when the electric motorcycle, also traveling on the sidewalk, collided with him during a right-hand curve. The impact caused approximately 4,000 Swiss francs in damage to the bicycle. Following the collision, the rider of the electric motorcycle fled the scene without providing assistance to the injured man.

The St. Gallen Cantonal Police are searching for the suspect, described as a man approximately 20 years old with dark hair, wearing a black jacket and a red sweater. The vehicle involved is described as a black electric motorcycle with red rims. The victim was treated by emergency services and transported to a hospital.
