Stabbing reported at Upper East Side apartment building

A 54-year-old female home health aide was stabbed in the stomach during an incident at a high-end co-op building on Manhattan's Upper East Side on Saturday. The attack allegedly occurred around 12:30 p.m. at 210 E. 73rd St.

Sources indicate the violent encounter may have been sparked by an argument over an oxygen mask between the aide and her 66-year-old client. A neighbor reported overhearing the client screaming on the phone about the care and services she provides for the patient prior to the incident.

The victim was transported by first responders to Weill Cornell Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition. Police took the 66-year-old resident into custody, though no formal charges had been filed as of Sunday morning. The investigation remains ongoing.
