Stability AI secures $76M Series B funding from major music and gaming giants
Stability AI has secured $76 million in Series B funding, bringing its total funding under CEO Prem Akkaraju to $232 million. The investment round is notable for its participation from the world’s three major music groups: Sony Music Group, Universal Music Group, and Warner Music Group. Other key investors include Electronic Arts, AMD Ventures, and Pacific Alliance Ventures, alongside returning backers such as Coatue, Greycroft, and Eric Schmidt.
The company plans to utilize the capital to expand its creative production product suite, advance applied research, and grow its professional services division. This strategic move aligns the AI developer with major entertainment rights holders, a shift from its earlier focus on open-source research.
This funding follows the recent launch of Stable Audio 3.0, a family of music models trained on fully licensed data. The technology is designed for professional creative workflows and is accessible via digital audio workstation plugins and a cloud-based platform.
