Stachu Jones, Polish internet icon, dies at 83

Stanisław Jan Michna, known online by his artistic pseudonym ‘Stachu Jones’, has passed away at the age of 83. According to information released by a funeral home in Hajnówka, Michna died on August 11.

Michna gained widespread recognition as a cult figure in Polish internet culture, primarily through his role in the amateur comedy film ‘Magnaci i Czarodzieje’ (Magnates and Wizards). Produced by Don Studio, the project gained viral popularity on YouTube starting around 2012, with trailers amassing millions of views. In the film, Michna portrayed a mentor and mage, delivering absurd and charismatic monologues that became widely used in memes, GIFs, and internet remixes.

While he did not engage in commercial social media influencer activities, his unique speaking style and presence left a significant mark on Polish pop culture and the early landscape of domestic meme culture.
