Stacii Samidin explores nature and recreation in Zandvoort
Photographer Stacii Samidin is exploring the intersection of nature and recreation in Noord-Holland through his work, ‘Kwetsbaar, maar aanwezig’ (Vulnerable, but present). The project focuses on areas where natural processes and human activities, such as walking, cycling, and tourism, coexist and influence one another.
Samidin utilizes aerial photography to provide a broad overview of the landscape, making patterns visible that are often difficult to detect from the ground. These images highlight how human infrastructure, including roads, paths, and buildings, shapes the environment. Complementing these large-scale views are intimate, detailed photographs that capture the resilience and movement of nature within these human-influenced settings.
The exhibition is located in Zandvoort, a region where beaches, dunes, and forests are heavily used for both tourism and local recreation while simultaneously serving as vital habitats for various plant and animal species.
