Stade du 28 Septembre reopens for Guinea national team
The Stade du 28 Septembre in Conakry is set to host the Guinea national football team, the Syli National, for the first time since 2020. The stadium will host a match against Kenya on October 1 as part of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) qualifiers.
The facility underwent a two-and-a-half-year renovation project led by the company GUICOPRES BTP, following a state initiative under President Mamadi Doumbouya. Key upgrades include the installation of a natural grass pitch meeting FIFA and CAF standards, improved spectator access via three new walkways, and the addition of three elevators to serve official and VIP boxes.
Additional infrastructure improvements include dedicated VIP and media parking, 14 hospitality boxes (ranging from VVIP to premium), a fully equipped media center, and press conference rooms. The renovation aims to modernize the venue to meet the standards of major African stadiums.
