Stade LNG terminal to begin commissioning in September

The floating liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal in Stade is scheduled to begin its commissioning process this month. The Deutsche Energy Terminal Gesellschaft (DET) announced that the specialized vessel ‘Energos Force’ has completed its subcharter and is returning to Germany.

Following the vessel's return in September, the commissioning phase will commence, with the first LNG tanker delivery expected in November. The DET is also preparing to market the terminal's capacities through upcoming auctions.

The project has faced delays despite the quay in the Stade-Bützfleth industrial harbor being completed in 2023. Once fully operational, the terminal is expected to increase Germany's gas injection capacities, contributing to a projected rise in natural gas feed-in by the end of 2026 compared to 2025 levels.
