Stade Malherbe de Caen rises to third in Ligue 3

Stade Malherbe de Caen is showing signs of recovery in Ligue 3 following a period of organizational restructuring and relegation. Under the control of Kylian Mbappé, the club has overhauled its squad and management to rebuild after a disappointing previous season in the third tier.

Following a 3-2 victory over the previously undefeated league leaders Rouen, Caen has moved into third place in the standings. The win was highlighted by a goal from veteran defender Dennis Appiah. Despite the victory, Caen remains two points behind Rouen and three points behind the new provisional leader, La Roche-sur-Yon.

The club's recent changes include significant personnel shifts in technical and recruitment departments, alongside a heavily remodeled roster focused on experienced players. The team currently holds 15 points after eight matches, maintaining strong fan engagement with high attendance at the Stade d'Ornano.
