Stade Rennais eyes new stadium and contests PSG match venue

Nicolas de Tavernost, chairman of the board for Stade Rennais, has announced several key strategic developments for the club. A primary focus is the potential construction of a new stadium, supported by the Pinault family's willingness to invest. This project aims to overcome the economic limitations of the current Roazhon Park, which the club believes restricts its ability to increase spectator capacity and diversify revenue streams. However, a disagreement persists with the Rennes city government, which currently favors renovating the existing stadium over building a new one.

Additionally, Stade Rennais intends to appeal a decision by the LFP Competition Commission to the CNOSF regarding the venue for a match against Paris Saint-Germain. The club is contesting the ruling that the return match be played at the Parc des Princes, arguing that the decision contradicts the fine imposed on PSG for stadium maintenance issues and fails to correctly apply LFP regulations regarding match inversions.
