Sturm Graz and Stade Rennais play to a scoreless draw in Europa League opener

Stade Rennais drew 0-0 against Sturm Graz in their opening match of the UEFA Europa League league phase. Despite dominating much of the game and recording 23 shots, the French side struggled with clinical finishing, managing only five shots on target.

An early goal by Adrien Thomasson was disallowed due to a handball, and a subsequent header by Paul Koller for Sturm Graz was ruled out for offside. Sturm Graz goalkeeper Daniil Khudiakov made several key saves to maintain the clean sheet, while Rennes goalkeeper Brice Samba was also vital in preventing a late Austrian advantage.

Rennes manager Franck Haise expressed satisfaction with the team's overall performance but noted that a lack of efficiency in the final third prevented a victory. The team now shifts focus to their upcoming Ligue 1 match against Lyon.
