Stade Rennais tops Ligue 1 after defeating Marseille

Stade Rennais has moved to the top of the Ligue 1 standings following a 1-0 victory over Olympique de Marseille at Roazhon Park. The decisive goal was scored by Adrien Thomasson in the 52nd minute. With this win, Rennes remains undefeated this season, accumulating ten points from four matches.

In contrast, Marseille faces a growing crisis, suffering its third consecutive defeat in the league. The loss leaves them with only three points from four matches, marking one of their poorest starts to a season in recent years. Marseille captain Timothy Weah took personal responsibility for the loss, citing a lack of confidence and individual errors.

Following the match, Marseille manager Bruno Genesio expressed frustration regarding the club's objectives and the lack of squad depth following a difficult transfer window. He noted that the team requires more time to become competitive, especially given the upcoming schedule which includes a Europa League match against Besiktas and a fixture against Paris Saint-Germain.
