Stade Rennais kicks off preseason as summer transfer activity ramps up

The Stade Rennais training centre reopened on 29 June, with non‑international players undergoing medicals and fitness tests as the club’s summer preseason begins. Three new signings – Adrien Thomasson, Issa Soumaré and Gonçalo Oliveira – were completed before the end of June, marking the fastest start to a campaign since the summer of 2018.

Sporting director Loïc Désiré confirmed that the club is already working on further targets, including central defender Yerson Mosquera, right‑back Bryan Reynolds and forward Eliezer Mayenda, while goalkeeper Nicolas Lemaître arrived from Troyes. Several players are set to depart, such as Lilian Brassier, Alidu Seidu, Jordan James and Breel Embolo, and Mayenda’s move to FC Porto is expected to fall through. Long‑term contract extensions, notably for top scorer Esteban Lepaul until 2030, underline the club’s strategy to secure its core before the new season.
