Stade Rennais signs Spanish striker Eliezer Mayenda for around €22 million

Stade Rennais confirmed the signing of 21‑year‑old Spanish forward Eliezer Mayenda from Sunderland. The deal is reported to cost a base €22 million with possible bonuses up to €3 million, and the player has signed a contract until 2031.

Mayenda, a product of the Sochaux academy, previously played in the English Championship with Sunderland, scoring 10 goals and providing 5 assists in 40 matches, and also spent time on loan at Hibernian. Rennes described him as a powerful, mobile striker capable of playing across the front line.

The transfer is the club’s third‑most expensive ever, after Amine Gouiri and Jérémy Doku, signalling Rennes’ intent to reinforce its attack and contend for European competition. The club is also pursuing other signings, including American defender Bryan Reynolds and centre‑back Charlie Cresswell, with total summer spending projected to approach €50 million. Mayenda said he was excited to join “a great club,” and sporting director Loïc Désiré praised his profile and mentality.
