Top 14 Rugby: Toulouse edges Castres while Montpellier dominates Toulon

In the fifth round of the Top 14 rugby championship, Stade Toulousain secured a narrow 8-7 victory against Castres. Despite a heavily rotated squad featuring several 18-year-old players and numerous absences, Toulouse relied on defensive solidarity and tactical management of the wind to hold their slim lead.

In another key matchup, Montpellier achieved a dominant 28-0 victory over Toulon at the Stade de La Mosson. Playing in heavy rain, Montpellier utilized a strong forward pack to control the game, highlighted by a brace of tries from Wilfrid Hounkpatin. The win moves Montpellier up to fifth place in the standings.

Conversely, Toulon suffered a significant setback, dropping to 13th place. The team struggled with technical and tactical deficiencies in poor weather conditions, failing to score any points and conceding a late try that allowed Montpellier to secure a bonus point.
