Stade Toulousain draws fan anger as Canal+ selects only one player for team of the season

Stade Toulousain, fresh from a fourth consecutive Top 14 title, is preparing for the 2026‑27 season with a largely unchanged roster. Coach Ugo Mola plans to add just one new signing, Italian centre Tommaso Menoncello, who is hailed as a future world‑class number 12. The club also anticipates the return of Argentine back‑row Juan Cruz Mallia and expects contributions from existing players such as Ange Capuozzo and Valentin Delpy.

Meanwhile, Canal+ released its season‑long “team of the season” on social media, featuring only one Toulouse player – English flanker Jack Willis – among a lineup dominated by rivals Montpellier, Pau, La Rochelle, Bordeaux‑Bègles and Lyon. The selection prompted a wave of criticism from Stade Toulousain supporters on Twitter, who questioned the credibility of the list and accused the broadcaster of bias despite the club’s championship win.
