Prato stadium expansion blocked by safety commission

The expansion of the Lungobisenzio stadium in Prato has been blocked following a negative assessment by the municipal safety commission. The proposal to increase capacity to approximately 3,000 spectators was rejected due to several identified deficiencies.

Specific issues cited by the commission include the need for updated emergency plans, incomplete fixed fencing near the central station gardens, and the requirement for pediatric defibrillation devices. Additionally, officials were unable to verify the certification of the separation between home and away supporters.

The decision has caused significant frustration among Prato supporters, who had hoped for increased capacity to accommodate demand for season tickets. Local fans have called for a meeting with Mayor Matteo Biffoni and club president Antonio Politano to clarify responsibilities and the future of the facility.
