Stadium closures and temporary venue construction reported in Colombia and Spain
The Hernán Ramírez Villegas Stadium in Colombia will remain closed for the remainder of 2026 following damage caused by an earthquake on August 10. Yuri Galeano, director of the Corporación Deportiva de Pereira (Cordep), stated that the facility cannot host sporting or cultural activities while experts conduct masonry repairs and structural reinforcements. Current work is focused on the playing field and track, while tasks involving the roof, lights, and speakers are suspended pending a deep pathological analysis to ensure safety.
In Madrid, officials are working to complete a temporary stadium, dubbed Macondo Park, within ten days to host Shakira’s “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour.” Located at Iberdrola Music between Villaverde and Getafe, the venue is designed to accommodate up to 50,000 people per night for a series of shows scheduled throughout September and October. The project aims to provide a specialized space featuring exhibitions, workshops, cinema, and gastronomy as part of the artist’s residency.
