Stadium construction projects face delays and planning in Poland
Stadium infrastructure projects in Lublin and Chorzów are currently navigating significant administrative and planning challenges.
In Lublin, fans and local officials are demanding transparency regarding the modernization of the speedway stadium. The procurement process, which began in late March, was canceled in September by MOSiR ‘Bytrzyca’ due to the financial difficulties of a planned subcontractor. As the city restarts the bidding process for the project, valued at nearly a quarter of a billion PLN, local residents have expressed frustration over the lack of a clear construction schedule.
Meanwhile, in Chorzów, officials are working to break a long-standing impasse regarding a new stadium on Cichej Street. The city is currently engaged in a competitive dialogue with three companies to refine the project's technical requirements and design. Using a ‘design and build’ model, the city aims to select a general contractor by December 12, 2026, though the Mayor of Chorzów has acknowledged that this is an ambitious deadline.
