Stadler completes delivery of 60 InterRegio trains to SBB

Stadler has completed the delivery of 60 InterRegio RABe 512 double-decker trains to Swiss Federal Railways (SBB). The final unit was handed over on October 2, 2026, marking the successful conclusion of the production phase.

Since entering service in mid-2023, the fleet has operated in the Zurich, Mittelland, and western Switzerland regions, covering more than 23 million kilometers. The trains utilize environmentally friendly technology, including a propane-based air conditioning system.

Despite facing significant disruptions—including the COVID-19 pandemic, global supply chain issues, and the flooding of the Constellium aluminum factory in Valais in summer 2024—the project met its delivery schedule. Lucius Gerig, Stadler's head of the Switzerland division, credited the achievement to close cooperation between SBB and Stadler.
