Swiss rail companies SBB and Stadler Rail report strong H1 2026 results

Swiss railway companies SBB and Stadler Rail reported strong financial results for the first half of 2026.

SBB recorded a profit of 126 million CHF, up from 78 million CHF in the previous year. This growth was driven by increased passenger demand, positive real estate results, and improved performance in freight transport. Despite the profit, CEO Vincent Ducrot noted that the financial situation remains tight, as the company aims for an annual profit of approximately 500 million CHF to fund necessary infrastructure investments.

Stadler Rail saw its revenue rise by 40 percent to 2.0 billion CHF, with operating profit (EBIT) more than doubling to 79.5 million CHF. The company’s order backlog reached a record high of 33.3 billion CHF. While the strong Swiss franc impacted revenue by approximately 30 million CHF, the manufacturer confirmed its full-year 2026 outlook, expecting revenue to exceed 5 billion CHF.
