Stadler unveils new locomotive and light rail models at InnoTrans
At the InnoTrans trade fair in Berlin, Stadler and its partners presented new generations of rail vehicles designed for freight and urban transit.
Stadler and SBB Cargo Switzerland unveiled the first EURO DuFour locomotive. Developed to advance the digitalization of rail freight, the platform aims to reduce infrastructure costs by 20% and energy consumption by up to 15%. SBB Cargo initially ordered 36 electric locomotives, with options for up to 129 vehicles.
Additionally, Stuttgarter Straßenbahnen AG (SSB) and Stadler presented the new S-DT8 light rail vehicle generation. Designed specifically for Stuttgart’s challenging topography, the vehicles feature an all-axle drive to handle steep inclines. The new models prioritize accessibility with lower floors for wheelchairs and strollers, increased multi-purpose areas, and improved passenger comfort. Stadler will manufacture 70 of these light rail vehicles at its Berlin plant for service starting in 2028.
