Stadskanaal launches cycling campaign for short trips
The municipality of Stadskanaal has launched the ‘Kort ritje? Da’s zo gefietst!’ campaign to encourage residents to use bicycles for short trips of up to 7.5 kilometers. The initiative aims to reduce the reliance on cars and scooters for routine tasks such as visiting shops, schools, or workplaces.
Alderman Jur Mellies supports the campaign, noting that cycling is healthier, more cost-effective, and better for the environment. The campaign highlights that more than half of all car trips in the Netherlands are under 7.5 kilometers and could potentially be replaced by cycling to avoid traffic and parking issues.
