Stadthagen opens 33 heritage sites for public on Open Monument Day

On 13 September 2026, Stadthagen and the Samtgemeinde Lindhorst will open 33 monuments to visitors as part of the annual Tag des offenen Denkmals. Organized by the Schaumburger Landschaft for more than three decades, the event is promoted as the region's largest heritage open day and adopts the Europe‑wide theme “NetzWERKE: Denkmale & Infrastruktur”. More than 100 volunteers will assist, and the historic Schloss Stadthagen – home to the local finance office since 1920 and overseen by Oliver Knop – will feature prominently.

Stadthagen, a small town of about 18 000 residents in Lower Saxony, is noted for its Weserrenaissance architecture. Its main attractions include a well‑preserved half‑timber old town, the Schloss with its park, and a range of churches, museums and historic buildings that together form a compact cultural itinerary for visitors.
