Stadthalle Karlsruhe reopens after extensive modernization

The Stadthalle Karlsruhe is set to reopen following a major modernization process that has been underway since 2017. The renovation aims to upgrade the facility to meet the requirements of modern congresses, conferences, and large-scale events.

The facility features approximately 13,000 square meters of space, centered around a cube containing five large halls distributed across the basement, ground, and upper floors. A 2,780 square meter foyer on the ground floor has been redesigned to serve as a networking area for attendees.

While the reopening marks a milestone for Karlsruhe as a convention hub, the project has faced significant financial challenges. Originally budgeted at 58 million euros by the city council, the estimated costs have risen to approximately 160 million euros due to technical challenges, planning changes, the pandemic, and inflation.
