Stadtmuseum Simeonstift Trier Showcases Historic Lock and Potters' Guild Trophy

The Stadtmuseum Simeonstift in Trier, Germany, now displays a hand‑forged vertical latch lock dating from the late 18th to early 19th century, likely produced in the Mosel‑Eifel region. The iron lock features irregular forged surfaces and riveted parts; it functions when operated from the outside with a key, although the original key is missing.

The museum also presents a painted ceramic trophy of the Trier potters’ guild, bearing six names and the inscription “Bei guter Arbeit und beim Wein können Töpfer fröhlich sein”.
