Stadtreinigung Leipzig launches e-waste collection competition for schools

Stadtreinigung Leipzig has launched an e-waste collection competition aimed at schools to raise awareness about the value of raw materials in discarded electronics. The initiative encourages students to view old devices as resources rather than waste.

Five participating schools will be selected to receive large collection containers. The official collection period is scheduled from October 26 to November 6. To ensure safety, the competition strictly requires that all collected devices are free of batteries or accumulators.

The winning school, determined by the total number of devices collected, will be recognized during the European Week for Waste Reduction (EWAV) between November 21 and 29. The EWAV is a major European campaign supported by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection, and the German Environment Agency.
