Stadtwerke Velbert and Ratingen to launch joint grid control center

Stadtwerke Velbert and Stadtwerke Ratingen are advancing a cooperation to establish the Rheinisch-Bergische Verbundleitstelle, a joint network control center. The two municipal companies aim to make investments more efficient, secure long-term expertise, and strengthen the reliability of energy supplies for residents in both cities.

The joint control center will serve as the operational heart of grid management, providing 24/7 monitoring and control of energy supply networks. This includes detecting faults, coordinating repair measures, and ensuring supply security amidst the increasing demands of the energy transition and digitalization. While the network management activities will be bundled into a joint company providing services, responsibility for the respective grids will remain with the individual municipal utilities.
